ARS - Heating and Air Conditioning SCAM

We get a lot of junk mail almost daily. Most of it is coupons, advertisments, free catalogs, free news papers - just the regular junk we americans receive every day. While i dislike all this unwanted mail, I usually tolerate it by putting all of it into a bin for recyclabale materials. However one mail card has caught my attention - at a glance, it appeared that we were being notified that we are due for our regular AC and heating maintenance tune-up. The "Service reminder" did say that we are DUE. However, we just had our system installed half a year ago by my father, so I knew very well that we were not due for any service.

As you can see it clearly says: Second Notice. Imortant notice - do not discard. This type of language has been generally reserved for financial services and other business that have an established relationship with the addresse.

It gets even better on the reverse side of the card:

Again - it looks a lot like a real reminder for service one may have signed up for. They even tell you about a "rebate credit" of $30.

Yes, this type of mailing card is not illigal. It is a form of advertisement that is bordering on fraud though. There are quite a few people who will believe this notice because they are either naive, elder and didn't pay attention to the wording. These are the people who get taken advantage of their entire lives. And at these tough economic times, these people are probably affect as much if not more than most of us. ARS Heating and Air Conditioning company is employing a shady way to gain business by going after people who may not be able to tell the difference between this ad, and a notice for service they signed up for. There are seniors whose memory is not perfectly sharp and who may fall for this bait. ARS Heating and Air Conditioning should be ashamed of itself for doing this. Hopefully people do read the entire "notice" or simply through it away without even looking at it. This is not a company that deserves business.

Apparently this company continues to use this tactic and employs it nationwide. I have received this notice from them in Colorado. Needless to say that after all of the reviews about them I just found online and the underhanded attempt to profit from this junk mail I would never use them. -Matt Colorado
