Sony A850 FF 24mp DSLR - potentially the cheapest full frame DSLR on the market
With no official price announcement on the new Sony A850 full frame DSLR speculations are ripe with price predictions. Just to reiterate the point - if this camera comes out with a price tag of $2200 or below - it will give an incredible boost to full frame camera market share. Canon and Nikon don't seem to have anything similar in their pipeline, and even if they did - it would come with advanced features that would still make them more expensive. This could be a very smart move on Sony's part. Grabbing a giant share of new full frame camera purchases will also likely result in sales of the quite expensive full frame lenses. Once consumer buys into the "system" (lenses, flashes, accessories) they are quite unlikely to switch brands due to the financial losses that they would have to take on selling and re-buying the equivalents in the new system. This would lock down a lot of people in the Sony land and keep them there, provided Sony can follow up with A950 and A750 that have more popular features such as video, live view, improved weather sealing, better high ISO performance. The official Sony A850 announcement should be just around the corner (end of August, beginning of September) and may bring more surprises.
