Verdict on Twitter - uselss fad
Everyone is on MySpace, FaceBook and Twitter. I can udnerstand why teenagers and musicians are on MySpace. I see why college kids are on FaceBook, but I don't udnerstand why even NPR hosts are on Twitter. The format is not useful - 140 character messages are not usefull for journalism, 140 chars is about 135 too many for teenagers who speak in LOL, OMG,l8r. Yet, there is so much hype about this service that even people who have no interest in sharing anything and those who have nothing to share are all on tweeter. Why would someone waste their time and follow the short messages of random people is beyond me. Oh, wait - Twitter is the best new way to start revolutions in Middle East. No - if someone has access to internet or telephone, why bother twittering from them when you can talk or actually submit a fully developed article (even a short one?). Well, the answer is simple - it's IN right now, that's why. But like all the other services Twitter will slowly fade away into a service used by few. Right now it's hot, but after a few more years Twitter will follow the same path ICQ went - be used for what it's intended - keeping in touch with a few friends who want to be cool, but are late on the whole technology bandwagon.
